DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL STUDENT PROGRAMS AND CLERKSHIP DIRECTOR

The University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine (SoM), Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Medical Student Programs for the UW DEM. Successful applicants will be board certified in Emergency Medicine, highly motivated, academically focused, and have previous graduate or undergraduate medical education experience as faculty. Emergency medicine is a required rotation for the UW SoM students and has consistently been rated among the highest of all required rotations. Students rotate within the UW Medicine emergency departments as well as at specified sites throughout the WWAMI (WA, WY, AK, MT, ID) region. In addition to this required EM clerkship, the DEM Student Programs supports a very active Emergency Medicine Interest Group, an Emergency Medicine Scholars Program, a pre-clinical Introduction to Emergency Medicine elective, and a pre-clinical preceptor program. This position will serve as Clerkship Director, provide oversight for all student program activities, and provide strategic leadership at the UW SoM as the departmental representative on multiple schoolwide committees pertaining to the curriculum and student experiences. Our department boasts a large cohort of dedicated clinician-educators as well as a nationally known fellowship in Medical Education Research. This faculty will work in the emergency departments of HMC, which is the only Level I Trauma Center for a 4-state region and sees approximately 66,000 patients per year, and the UWMC, a tertiary/quaternary medical center with an ED volume of approximately 30,000 patients per year.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT MEDICAL DIRECTOR FOR UWMC - NWH

The University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is seeking a Medical Director for the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) Northwest Hospital (NWH) Campus Emergency Department (ED). UWMC-NW is a full-service, community hospital, offering comprehensive medical, surgical and therapeutic services. With 281 beds, more than 1900 employees and a world-class medical staff, UWMC-NW provides innovative, technologically advanced care on a patient-friendly, easy-access campus in north Seattle. UWMC-NW is a Level-4 Trauma Center, a Level 1 Cardiac and Level 2 Stroke Center. The ED annual volume is approximately 35,000. The Department of Emergency Medicine encompasses the UWMC Montlakecampus, the UWMC-NWH, and the Harborview Medical Center EDs. This position will join a broader team of operational and quality improvement directors that spans the EDs of the three medical centers with opportunity to additionally participate in the teaching and research mission of the DEM and the UW Medicine healthcare system. The position holds tremendous opportunity for personal career and leadership development as well as program development. The UW DEM supports a 4-year Emergency Medicine Residency sProgram and several fellowship programs. As part of the UW DEM, faculty have access to wide ranging opportunities to participate in conferences, medical education, and research, including that focused in Quality Improvement, Public and Population Health. This is a full-time position that would serve at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor, commensurate with experience. Full-time faculty must have a M.D. or terminal degree in the field or foreign equivalent. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Candidates for this position must hold an M.D. degree, possess or be eligible for full medical licensure in Washington State, be board-prepared/eligible in Emergency Medicine, and have demonstrated leadership and operational experience.
