Dr. McCoyThe Department of Emergency Medicine is proud to announce that Dr. Andrew McCoy has been selected as the new Medical Director for the Resuscitation Academy Foundation.

McCoy brings his extensive knowledge of emergency medical services and a deep-seated commitment to advancing the field of resuscitation to the role. According to Executive Director Ann Doll, his long-standing involvement with the Academy and dedication to improving out-of-hospital cardiac arrest care make him an ideal leader.

In this new role, McCoy will provide scientific consultation on resuscitation guidelines, advise on decision-making processes, and develop program content. He will work closely with the Academy’s leadership to refine strategic initiatives and build a global community of resuscitation professionals. McCoy’s efforts will be focused on addressing equity gaps in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest care, with a special emphasis on underserved populations.

Dr. McCoy’s journey with the Resuscitation Academy started in 2014 when he joined as an EMS Fellow. Over the years, McCoy has led RA programs in cities across the United States, including Buffalo, Albuquerque, Atlanta, and Tampa. These experiences have provided him with a deep understanding of different EMS systems and the unique challenges each community faces.

"Taking this platform to the next level is an exciting prospect and a challenge I relish. I look forward to the future of the Resuscitation Academy and increasing growth in a sustainable way while maintaining the high standards of the original RA contributors. The opportunity to assist in a key role on this journey is both a privilege and honor to pursue," said McCoy in a recent press release.

McCoy also serves as the EMS Medical Director at Shoreline Fire Department in King County, WA, and American Medical Response.
