bIOGRAPHY

Dr. Badulak is an emergency physician and intensivist caring for patients in the Emergency Department, Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, and Medical Intensive Care Unit at the University of Washington Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center. She is a clinician-educator who specializes in curriculum development and assessment with a focus on graduate medical education and Extracorporeal Life Support/Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).

Dr. Badulak is the Associate Program Director of the UW Medicine ECMO Programs leading educational, operations, finance, and quality projects. She has developed the UW ECMO curriculum for clinicians through the creation of an online didactic curriculum and in-person simulation training. She has also partnered with Airlift Northwest to create the UW Medicine ECMO Retrieval Team serving the Pacific Northwest. 

Dr. Badulak works with the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) on the education committee where she contributed to development of the international standardized ECMO curriculum ELSO Foundations, and led development of the ELSO Adult ECMO Practitioner Certification Exam (E-AEC)

She is passionate about learning and teaching the optimal use of ECMO to care for the most critically ill patients in our region.
