biography
Dr. Garrett is an emergency physician who cares for patients in the Emergency Department at Harborview Medical Center and UW Northwest. He is a Medical Education Research Fellow, dedicated to providing quality, compassionate care to patients while developing future emergency medicine physicians at the bedside. Dr. Garrett is interested in the intersection of social factors and health, and how medical trainees are taught to address it.
He studies the experiences of students who are underrepresented in medicine, with the goal of creating a more equitable medical education system. He also volunteer precepts with the Mobile Health Outreach van project through the UW School of Medicine Service Learning Program, and studies how best to prepare student volunteers.
