The University of Washington School of Medicine has selected Dr. Lauren Whiteside for the Triple I Outstanding Research Mentor Award for her contributions guiding UW medical students with research projects.

The award was presented at the annual Medical Student Research Symposium on November 22, 2022.

The annual Medical Student Research Symposium is an opportunity for medical students to present research posters. The poster presentation allows medical students to develop the skills necessary to communicate their scholarly work in a publicly accessible product that allows others to build on their work and advance knowledge in their respective fields.

Excellent mentors develop a supportive environment for scholarship, are readily available to guide students through their projects, provide instruction on research skills, support their personal and professional development, value scholarship, and demonstrate professionalism.

Dr. Whiteside exemplifies these qualities and the impact of her support upon student professional development and our shared mission of recruiting academically minded physicians to learn, live and work across the WWAMI region is profound.

Please join us in thanking and congratulating Dr. Whiteside for her continued dedication to our Department, our students, and our patients.
