Dr. Hess elected to the Washington State Academy of Sciences
The Department of Emergency Medicine is proud to announce that Dr. Jeremy Hess is one of 36 new members to be elected to the Washington State Academy of Sciences (WSAS).
Hess joins 14 other University of Washington professors in this class, recognized for their outstanding scientific and technical contributions. The class includes 30 scientists and engineers elected by WSAS peers and 6 recent inductees to the National Academies of Science, Engineering, or Medicine residing in Washington State.
“We are thrilled to honor these scientists, engineers, and leaders in the public, non-profit and private sectors for their distinguished and continued achievements,” said John Roll, WSAS President and professor at Washington State University. “We look forward to tapping their expertise and knowledge to advance the Academy’s mission of science in the service of Washington State.”
Hess, who is also a Professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences as well as the Department of Global Health, was recognized by WSAS as a leader in climate change.
"Dr. Hess is a global and national leader at the intersection of climate change and health, whose work has advanced our understanding of climate change health effects and has informed the design of preparedness and disaster response planning in Washington state, nationally, and globally," the website article reads.
The new members to the Washington State Academy of Sciences will be formally inducted in September.
