Drs. Johnson, Mitchell, and Stern Named 2021 Top Doctors by Seattle Met

Department Chair Dr. Susan Stern, along with Associate Professor and Medical Director of the HMC ED, Dr. Steven Mitchell have both been selected as top physicians in the field of emergency medicine in this year's publication of "Top Doctors" compiled by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine. This annual list features top doctors from numerous specialties in the Seattle area. Additionally, Associate Professor and Section Head for Critical Care Dr. Nick Johnson was selected as a top physician in the field of critical care.

In order to create these lists, SeattleMet partners with the Professional Research Services survey company to poll health care practitioners licensed by the Washington State Department of Health in King, Snohomish, Kitsap, and Pierce counties. The survey question is simple: "If you or a loved one needed care, whom would you choose?" Voters nominated peers based on  "years of experience, competency, rapport with patients, patient satisfaction and compliance with care recommendations, and ability to work effectively with colleagues across specialties to deliver the best patient care." Once vetted by the DOH to confirm good standing, top vote recipients are organized into their respective categories and the list is published.
