The UW Department of Emergency Medicine is thrilled to announce that our fourth-year Resident Dr. Braiden Eilers has been selected to the newest class of the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) at the CDC. She will be working in Washington, DC, on non-HIV infectious diseases starting in the summer of 2021.

The EIS combines on-the-job learning and service into a highly competitive 2-year post-graduate fellowship in applied epidemiology. The EIS website states "EIS officers serve CDC and its partners by providing rapid, creative, and effective solutions to public health problems." EIS Officers conduct epidemiologic investigations of infectious disease outbreaks, respond to natural disasters or other emerging public health threats, and study infectious and chronic diseases and environmental and occupational health threats.

We are so proud of Dr. Eilers and all of the other amazing Residents who come through our Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
