Five new fellows to join UW Department of Emergency Medicine in 2024

The Department of Emergency Medicine is proud to announce five new fellows will be joining the team in the academic year 2024-2025.

Despite a competitive match season, the UW was able to fill all open positions in the Emergency Medical Services Fellowship, Global Emergency Medicine and Rural Health Fellowship, and Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography Fellowship.

Chelsea Williams MD, MPH, DTM&H

Emergency Medicine Residency, Washington University

Headshot of Chelsea WilliamsDr. Williams is no stranger to the Department of Emergency Medicine. She completed the GEMRH Fellowship in 2021 before completing a diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the University of Alabama. Dr. Williams currently volunteers with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium working as an attending emergency physician in rural arctic and tertiary care settings caring for the Alaska Native population. Welcome, Dr. Williams!

Emily Pearce, MD

Emergency Medicine Residency, University of New Mexico

Headshot of Emily PearceDr. Pearce is from Williamsburg, Virginia, and completed medical school at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Pearce is a certified Flight Paramedic and before attending medical school spent time with the University of New Mexico's EMS Consortium, working with rural and tribal EMS agencies. She has worked as a critical care Paramedic, park ranger, and rescue paramedic. Dr. Pearce enjoys hiking, woodworking, and gardening. Welcome, Dr. Pearce!

Peter Davis-Allen, MD

Emergency Medicine Residency, Stanford University

Peter Davis AllenDr. Davis-Allen attended Georgetown University for medical school and has previously worked as a Paramedic and Emergency Medical Technician. During his time at Georgetown, he spent years volunteering with Hoya SIMS, a peer-to-peer platform for senior students to share their clinical skills with junior students. Dr. Davis-Allen was the Physician Lead for the Emergency Department Triage Taskforce at Stanford in 2023, where he was also awarded Save of the Month. Welcome, Dr. Davis-Allen!

Global Emergency Medicine and Rural Health

Liz Malik, MD

Emergency Medicine Residency, Denver Health Hospital

Dr. Liz Malik

Dr. Malik is an Emergency Medicine physician at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, a university-affiliated, Level-1 trauma center. During residency, she was named Senior of the Year in the Denver Health Emergency Department Best of the Best, as well as awarded the Jody Maes Award for Excellence in Pediatric Medicine. She completed her doctorate at the University of Colorado School of Medicine where she was a member of the Rural Track program. Liz believes in compassionate, patient-centered, and equitable access to emergency medical care for all. She has a special interest in reproductive and human rights, refugee health, and the disproportionate effects of climate change on vulnerable populations worldwide. Welcome, Dr. Malik!

Michael Drake, MD

Emergency Medicine Residency, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center

Dr. Michael DrakeDr. Drake was born and raised in Helena, Montana, and studied French literature at Montana State University. During his summers at Montana State, he worked with Engineers Without Borders in rural Kenya to develop clean water delivery systems. His time in Kenya sparked an interest in living and working abroad leading to his decision to move to France to improve his French language skills. He studied at the University of Montpellier, where he also conducted research in neuroscience.  Afterwards, he moved to the island of Bohol in the Philippines where he volunteered with the International Deaf Education Association. Upon returning to the US, he completed medical school and decided that EM would be the best way to further his interest in international health. Welcome, Dr. Drake!
