Dr. Ashley Amick

Dr. Ashley Amick received a BS in Biological Sciences, cum laude, from Georgetown University in 2006, followed by her MS and MD from the University of Michigan in 2012. She completed residencies in both Internal Medicine (2015) and Emergency Medicine (2018) at Northwestern University.

Her passion for medical education was already apparent during resident training when she was a four-time recipient of the Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award and a five-time recipient of the Outstanding Medical Student Teacher Award.

Dr. Amick took every opportunity to teach students and residents throughout her residency training, including:

-Creating curriculum and leading sessions for the Residents as Teachers and Leaders (RATL) course; and
-Developing curricula and creating multimedia presentations focused on Ultrasound Guided Vascular access for medical students, residents, and nurses.

Dr. Amick begins her clinical role in January 2019, initially as a hospitalist and then as an EM attending in the spring of 2019.

Dr. Ross Kessler

Dr. Ross Kessler received an AB in Psychology in 2003, followed by his MD in 2009, both from the University of Chicago. Following medical school, he completed a Transitional Year Internship at the MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL, a year of Radiology training at the University of Washington, and then Emergency Medicine Residency training at the University of Pennsylvania from 2011 through 2014. He then went on to obtain fellowship training in Emergency Ultrasound at Denver Health Medical Center (2015).

In July 2015, Dr. Kessler joined the faculty at the University of Michigan Department of Emergency Medicine, where he has served in a number of leadership and educational roles including:

-Co-Director of Emergency Ultrasound for the department, Associate Director of the Clinical Ultrasound Fellowship; and
-Co-Director of the Diagnostic and Therapeutics Branch of the Clinical Trunk at the University of Michigan Medical School.

On a national level, he co-chairs the ACEP Critical Care US Subcommittee. His excellence and dedication to teaching are apparent through both his many educational roles as well as his recent Golden Apple Teaching Honors award from the Department of Emergency Medicine at UM in 2017.

Dr. Kessler joins our already talented UW EM Ultrasound team.
