Global Emergency Medicine and Rural Health Fellowship Matches with Two New Fellows

The Global Emergency Medicine & Rural Health Fellowship is thrilled to have matched with Drs. Kaitlyn Main and Reid Haflich during the 2020 Fellowship match process.

After receiving her Bachelor of Arts at Linfield College in McMinnville, OR, Dr. Main completed her Medical Doctorate at Oregon Health & Science University. Se will join the UWashEM team after completing her Emergency Medicine Residency at Maine Medical Center. Dr. Main is currently serving as Chief Resident and is a collaborator for the Wilderness Medicine Elective at Maine Medical Center where she is completing her residency. She has also participated in the development of patient enclosure for viral containment as part of Maine Medical Center’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Haflich, joining us from the Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine, completed his Medical Doctorate at Boston University School of Medicine. Prior to medical school, Dr. Haflich earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Health from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Haflich has participated in numerous Global Health-focused initiatives, including acting as Resident Leader for the Global Health Career Track at the Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine where he coordinated resident participation in many different Global EM activities.

Indeed, the pursuit of the highest level of training in global health at an institution pushing the boundaries of what EM can achieve is an opportunity to craft the career I've always dreamed of. I look forward to the ingenuity, collaboration and mentorship for which UW EM is known.”

Drs. Main and Haflich will start their fellowships in July 2021.
