The Department of Emergency Medicine is proud to announce that Dr. Doug Franzen has been appointed Chair of the MSS Emergency Medicine Advanced Clinical Exam by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME).

According to NBME, educators typically use the Advanced Clinical Science Subject Exams to assess fourth-year medical students’ knowledge on the topics of emergency and internal medicine.

Franzen will serve on a committee responsible for developing and maintaining the NBME examination used as the shelf exam for emergency medicine clerkships nationwide and in several other countries. Additionally, the committee will be responsible for ensuring that the content is appropriate and selecting a few new members this year.

Congratulations, Dr. Franzen!
