How the Hotline Works

about the WA Telebuprenorphine program

Created in partnership with the University of Washington Department of Emergency Medicine and the Washington State Department of Health, this program offers rapid, short-term access to Buprenorphine, also known as Suboxone, which is a medication that is used to treat opioid use disorder. The Telebuprenorphine or “Telebupe” program serves residents across all of Washington state who are 13 years of age or older.

Patients can access this service by calling our hotline at (206) 289-0287. Calls are answered from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, 7 days a week. One of our Linkage to Care Coordinators will conduct a brief intake with some basic screening questions to verify appropriateness for the program. This information is then routed to one of our providers, who will conduct an audio or video telehealth visit at no cost. After hours, callers can leave a voicemail with us requesting a call back the next day or can be routed to the Washington Recovery Helpline.

This program is intended to provide short-term, urgent, and low-barrier access to buprenorphine. The goal of the hotline is to connect patients to ongoing care providers in their community. Our team includes dedicated Linkage to Care Coordinators who follow up within 72 hours to offer resources for ongoing MOUD care. Our care coordination is holistic and personalized to the patient’s specific region, insurance coverage, and care needs.

How it Works

Call our hotline at (206) 289-0287, available 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, 7 days a week.

  • You’ll speak with a Linkage to Care Coordinator, who will do a brief intake to confirm the program is right for you.

  • Then, one of our medical providers will connect with you for an audio or video telehealth visit—at no cost.

  • If you call after hours, you can leave a voicemail for next-day follow-up or choose to be connected to the Washington Recovery Helpline for immediate support.

Our Approach

Telebupe is designed as a bridge to ongoing treatment. While we provide short-term prescriptions and urgent access, our ultimate goal is to connect you with local, long-term care providers. Within 72 hours of your visit, our Linkage to Care Coordinators will follow up to offer personalized resources tailored to your region, insurance, and individual needs.

Our commitment is simple: remove barriers, meet you where you are, and get you connected to care that lasts.
